In a video message posted to Instagram on Friday, Apple said it had added $20 million in new revenue to its ecommerce business since the end of December, the largest single payment it has made to the ecommerce segment.
The $20 billion investment was part of the $60 billion investment Apple made in the e-commerce segment, Apple announced in December.
In the last quarter of 2016, Apple added $6.5 billion to its total ecommerce revenue, according to data from ecommerce research firm Kantar Worldpanel.
Apple has made the biggest single payment ever to the segment, surpassing $1 billion in 2016.
According to Kantar, Apple had made more than $1.6 billion in payments to the digital storefronts in the third quarter of the year, compared to $900 million in the same quarter of last year.
Ecommerce, a $6 billion industry in the US, accounts for nearly 40% of Apple’s sales.
Last year, Apple paid $1,094,827 to ecommerce businesses, an increase of 18% over 2016.
